Which GRP Trim Do I Need?

The correct GRP trim depends entirely on the edge type. A-series trims (A170, A200, A250) form a drip edge where the roof overhangs the fascia — the different sizes suit different fascia depths. B-series trims (B240, B260, B300) form a raised edge upstand at parapets, abutments or anywhere the roof needs a contained perimeter. The F300 flat trim goes under roof tiles where the flat roof meets a tiled section. Corner trims finish internal and external corners where A or B trims meet. Roofroll EPDM flashing is used for wall abutments and junction details rather than perimeter edge forming.

What is the difference between A-series and B-series GRP trims?

A-series trims (A170, A200, A250) form drip edges at the fascia where the roof overhangs. B-series trims (B240, B260, B300) form raised upstand edges at parapets, party walls and contained perimeters. Choose A-series for eaves edges that drain over a fascia, and B-series for enclosed upstand edges.

How do I choose between A170, A200 and A250?

The size refers to the width of the trim face. A wider fascia needs a wider A-series trim to cover it properly and form a clean drip edge. Measure the fascia depth and choose the A-series trim that comfortably covers it.

When is an F300 flat trim used instead of an A or B trim?

The F300 flat under-tile trim is used at the junction where a flat GRP roof meets a pitched tiled section. It goes under the tiles rather than forming a drip or upstand edge, and allows the tiles above to lap over the GRP without leaving an exposed joint.

Do GRP trims need adhesive?

Trim adhesive such as Soudal is used to bond trims to the OSB3 deck before the GRP laminate is applied. The trims are then glassed over as part of the lamination. The adhesive holds the trims in position during lamination — the GRP itself provides the permanent bond.

What width of Roofroll flashing do I need?

Choose a Roofroll width that covers the junction reveal from the top of the upstand down to the wall face below, plus an overlap onto the wall surface and an overlap onto the roof. 150mm and 200mm widths suit most standard wall abutments. 300mm and wider widths suit deeper reveals, chimney flashings and valley details.

A-Series vs B-Series: The Core Trim Decision

A-series trims form a drip edge — they run along the fascia at the eaves of the roof and allow water to drip clear of the fascia face. The different A-series sizes (A170, A200, A250) accommodate different fascia board depths: the wider the fascia, the wider the trim needed to cover it. If an A-series trim is too narrow for the fascia, water runs back behind it rather than dripping clear.

B-series trims form a raised upstand at a contained edge — a parapet wall, a party wall abutment or anywhere the roof needs a sealed perimeter rather than a drip edge. B-series trims are bonded and laminated into the GRP system and form the basis of the upstand detail that gets glassed over. The B240, B260 and B300 designations refer to the height of the upstand — match the trim height to the required upstand depth on the roof.

Roofroll Flashing vs GRP Trims

Roofroll EPDM lead alternative is not a GRP trim — it is a flexible flashing roll used at wall abutments, chimney junctions and valleys where a conformable flashing is needed rather than a rigid GRP profile. It is sold in widths from 150mm to 600mm to cover different reveal depths and junction widths. For standard roof edge forming, use A or B series GRP trims. For wall flashings and junction details, use Roofroll.
